About Us

How you’ve tried to find the perfect solution for that tangled twist, itchiness, that perfect hair regimen.
Eventually resulting to the perm, tight braids, the 'big chop', to the sadness of an unloved mess. It simply has not been easy to love your hair and have her love you back.

Hair is personal and social, making it a powerful tool for self-expression and beauty. Black 3a-4c, curly, textured hair maintenance, in particular, is ritualistic and style is almost sacred. Black hair is more than simply beautiful; it is historical, cultural, religious and political.

Every kink, curl, and loc is an anchor to a cherished history and cultural norms. With the rise of the natural hair movement, a flourishing black renaissance, requirement to live healthier and more responsibly, black women are re-imagining their hair and hair care regimens.

There is a yearning to be reconnected to that rich identity, cultural tapestry and beloved ceremonies where hair was viewed as a “crown” worth wearing. The conventional, multi-cultural, poly-ethnic, toxic products that served the community are no longer the go-to products. 3a-4c textured, coily, curly and all in between hair has an insatiable attraction to nature’s simple ingredients (and some pampering).

Blumseed exists to support your journey back to hair love.

 Hi, We're

Hi, I am Zakiyyah Alexander, Hair-Scalp Specialist, Kitchen Alchemist and Founder at Blumseed.

The inspiration for Blumseed comes from my grandparents who made livelihoods with their hands, a mother who displayed true pride in her natural beauty, and a father with an incessant need for melodic perfection.

They all inspired me to create a beauty line that is for me the essence of health and healing.
